Starting at three years old. (30 min. program)
Development of proper posture, pushing, stopping, getting up and learning to fall safely—through creative movement and play. C.S.A. hockey helmets MUST be worn. Bike helmets will NOT be permitted.

Learn to skate program with the development of fundamental skills of skating. This program is up to the completion of Badge 6. C.S.A. hockey helmets MUST be worn. Bike helmets will NOT be permitted.

This program is suitable for skaters who have completed our Tiny Tot program or have previously registered in the Pre-Powerskate program*. Must be able to skate forwards, walk backwards and half snowplow stop. This program teaches basic skating fundamentals and skills needed for hockey. Full hockey equipment encouraged. C.S.A. hockey helmets MUST be worn. Bike helmets will NOT be permitted.

Focus is on correcting and enhancing skating posture, form and technique, both forward and backward, with the addition of speed and power. More advanced skating skills are taught, including pivot turns and cross-overs. Full equipment and sticks are mandatory.

Must have completed Jr. Powerskate Level 5 to participate in this program, or have previously registered in the Sr. Powerskate program*. Power and speed-focused drills are taught based on fundamentals learned in the Jr. Power program in a fast-paced environment. Emphasis is placed on power, speed and agility with continual emphasis on the use of edges. Further skill advancement is taught (i.e., reverse pivot turns etc.) in this program. Full equipment and sticks mandatory.

Completion of badge 6 of the CanSkate Program is required. This program is an introduction to figure skating. The development of jumping, spinning and dancing will be covered. Private coaching is available. Shared ice with Session II to allow advancement.

Junior Parent's Guide

Must have passed first preliminary Skate Canada Dance test. Working on Preliminary Freeskate, Dances and skills. Must have a private coach*.

Must be prepared to test Preliminary Freeskate or recommended by their private coach. Must have passed all 3 preliminary Dances and Skills. Working on Jr. Bronze dances & skills. Must have a private coach*. Must have a minimum two-day membership.

Passed Preliminary Freeskate and Senior Bronze Dances & skills. Must have a minimum two-day membership.

A healthy exercise program for young bodies and skating. Run by qualified instructors. Additional program for StarSkate 2 & 3 levels. Further program information will be posted near the beginning of the season. Registration will be separate from regular registration. |
