Acton Skating Club is proud to offer a March Break Figure Skating Clinic.

Special Guest Instructors

Paige Aistrop of Skating Solutions Mariposa

  • 26 years coaching experience
  • Coached at numerous National and International competitions
  • Coached at 15 Canadian Championships Coach many National International and Olympic Athletes
  • Level 3 certified
  • Triple Gold Medalist
  • Specialties include Spinning, Athlete Management, Jumping, Choreography, Program Analysis, and Off-ice Jumping

Tugba Karademir member of the Canadian Junior National Team

  • Finished 13th in the European Championships
  • Competed at the 2010 Olympics finishing 21st
  • Competed at the 2010 Worlds finishing 18th 

Kasia Stariz of Body Movements Acton

  • RMT, PTS
  • Owner and operator of Body Movement Therapeutics
  • Completed education, with honors as a Registered Massage Therapist at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. 
  • Certified Personal Trainer, Elite Fitness Competitor and worked with many Universities such as University of Guelph and Sir Wilfred Laurier football, basketball, and running teams. 
 

Requirements

Skaters must have passed Junior Bronze Skills and Dances.

Registration

The clinic is open to Acton Skating Club members and out of club Skate Canada members. Space is limited and will be taken on a first come first serve basis so register early.

Jumps – On and Off the Ice – proper entry to get the most from your jump and solid landings

Spins – On And Off the Ice – speed, tightness, no travelling, ways to make them worth more points and uniquely yours

Polish and Performance  – how to use your upper body posture and postions to add polish to your performance, as well as using expression

Elements of movement – proper body posture and positions and making the most of your music

Field moves including unique entries and exits – how to get the points from every move

Foot work and edges – unique turns twist and twizzles and don’t forget your arms/hands

Off Ice Training – working your core for stronger jumps and spins

Schedule is subject to change. Participants will be notified of the final schedule by email prior to the event.

Every Skate Canada skating program complements the others and allows for unrestricted movement and development through the system. All programs are taught by professional coaches certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and they are offered at member clubs and skating schools across the country.
