CanSkate is Skate Canada's flagship Learn to Skate Program and is designed to offer the development of skating skills for all ice sports. CanSkate falls in the FUNdamentals stage of the LTAD model and is taught in group lesson format. Participants will learn the Fundamentals of skating, ABC's - Agility, Balance and Control - using circuits and stations led by Certified Coaches.
PreCanSkate is a component of the CanSkate program and is designed for skaters with no experience. Participants will work on the essentials to move confidently on the ice and allow skaters to rotate through the stations. PreCanSkate typically falls in the Active Start stage of the LTAD model, however, any participate may qualify to skate with the PreCanSkate group.
STAR 1-5 is Skate Canada's official Learn to Figure Skate program and is an extension of CanSkate with participants continuing to develop the ABC's as Dance, Skills, Freeskate, Artistic and Synchro. Skaters in the STAR 1-5 program are within the Learn to Train stage of the LTAD model and as such will continue with group lessons, classes, stations, Coach directed and individual time. Skaters at the STAR 1-2 will receive 75% or more Coach Directed time, Skater 3-4 will receive 50% or more and Star 5 will receive a minimum of 25% class time and 25% or more individual time.
STAR 6-Gold is a figure skating program moving from the Learn to Train stage to the Train to Train stage of the LTAD model. Skaters at this level will receive a minimum of 25% class time and 25% individual time.

Skate for Life
Our Skate for Life programs are designed for participants 16 years of age and older. Skaters of all stages are invited to join us for a fully coached group lesson. Coaches will offer modifications and challenges to allow skaters to fully participate.
Those skaters wishing to participate is assessments or events should let the on ice coach know.
