FIGURE SKATING 

Levels, Dates, Times and Fees 

 

Pre-Star/ STARSkate 1                                       

Requirements

  • Star 1 Skaters must have PASSED Stage 5 CanSkate.or been recommended /assessed by one of our coaches
  • Please check with your private coach or the test chair if you have questions regarding your current levels.
  • Skater may have a private coach. See our coaches page for contact information. 

What's Included

Our Jr. StarSkate program is a hybrid of our Canskate and StarSkate programs. It is designed to help propel our Canskaters wanting to focus on figure skating specific skills. Helmets will continue to be worn until skater successfully completes Stage 6 of our Canskate program. Figure skates are highly recommended.

The program itself consists of 1 hour of full ice which includes a guided warmup, group lesson and practice stations. During this time skaters will learn the fundamental techniques of figure skating in a fun, positive and high energy environment. At the end of the season ribbons and badges are handed out with a special victory lap for skaters who have successfully completed Stage 6 of our Canskate program and no longer require a helmet.

 

STARSkate Star 2 to 5                                       

Requirements

  • Passed StarSkate Star 1.
  • Please check with your private coach or the test chair if you have questions regarding your current levels.
  • Skater must have private coach. See our coaches page for contact information. Skater must have a private coach in place by October 26th.
  • Minimum 2-day per week membership.

What's Included

Our STARSkate Star 2-5 program provides both an extension of CanSkate and introduction to figure skating. The focus is building on the fundamentals, forward, backward, turn and stop as well as introducing figure skating elements, jumps and spins.

Each Star 1 to 5 session consists of a 10 minute warm up, a 10 minute skills lesson and a 10 minute dance lesson.  Remaining ice time is for independent practice and private coaching lessons.

Private lessons are available. A private coach adds individualized attention to the skaters experience and the focused attention helps them excel in the program. Please make arrangements with the coach directly. Please see the coaches page for coach contact information.

 

STARSkate Star 6 to 10                                           

Requirements

  • Skater must have passed Star 5 skills, dance, free skate and artistic to move up to Star 6. Please check with your private coach or the test chair if you have questions regarding your current levels.
  • Skater must have private coach. See our coaches page for contact information. Skater must have a private coach in place by October 26th.
  • Minimum 2-day per week membership.

What's Included

Includes 10 minute group/ stroking lessons and independent practice time.
Independently working on dances, skills, and free skate under the direction of private coach.

$520 per night + once per skating season costs of Admin/ Skate Canada Fee** $80  

Notes:

 Some Friday skating sessions are cancelled due to weekend hockey tournaments. These dates will be communicated to skaters when  confirmed.   Winterfest is scheduled for Thursday, December 21, no skating from December 23, 2023 to January 1, 2024

 **Skate Canada / Admin Fee includes a small administration fee and the compulsory Skate Canada fee for skaters registering in Skate Canada sanctioned clubs. Skate Canada, the national governing body responsible for the development and administration of skating in Canada, is the largest skating association in the world. With skating programs for athletes of all ages, offered at clubs and skating schools across the country, Skate Canada is an association dedicated to providing every Canadian the opportunity to learn life skills while experiencing the power, strength and creativity of one of Canada's premier sports. 

**skaters from other home clubs may need to pay an additional fee of $30 for Administration fee rather than $80 IF the skate Canada fee has already been paid at another club during the current season. Please pay the program fee in full and see a board member for information regarding additional action required. 

**All private lessons will be at additional cost to the skater and paid directly to the coach(es) hired by the skater. See the coaches page for information about our coaches.
